FILM: Anna Wintour on Bloomberg

There’s not much to say, it’s Anna Wintour we’re talking about. Chronicling her journey up until now, this feature sheds light into places I’ve never known about. For example, I wasn’t aware that her journey to the top of the masthead was preceded by so many other positions. I had only heard about Home and Garden in addition to Vogue UK. To be honest the video is meant as inspiration. Now it’s time to set your sights and climb.

Alexander Wang’s Clean Slate

I’ve been working on not tweeting as much recently, I’ve been thinking about more quality of tweets than quantity. Well that was kind of died after seeing the Alexander Wang show. I had not gushed about any of the shows that I had seen, and had even stated I was blatantly withholding myself in the case of Prabal Gurung, and that everyone would just have to wait for my coverage. But once I saw the livestream of Alexander Wang… well all of that went out of the window and I tweeted like mad for a few minutes, throwing in a few Twitpics for good measure.
See our coverage as well as images and a video of the show below the clip.

The first thing that most noticed was the black… or well lack of it. To just ignore the fact that there was no black in Wang’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection is to ignore what had seemingly become apart of Wang’s entire aesthetic. I didn’t notice this at first. Why? Not because I was blatantly unaware of Alexander Wang (which is impossible when you reach such blogs as Confessions of a Fashion Addict) but because I was reveling in the freshness that was the collection. My attention was on the belts around the neck, probably a brain child of the show stylist, Karl Templer, as well as the clay that seemed like toothpaste to me, in the models hair which was done by Guido Palau. To describe it as toothpaste opened an entirely different layer for me in the show. It began to become like a cleansing. The mint julep colored pieces reminded me of the post mouthwash tingle. I actually began to lust for the top that Mirte Maas was wearing, for my own collection as well as the booties that the models beat the Pier 94 floor with(not to wear, but to style for a shoot). The Alexander Wang army, cast by Anita Bitton included names like Women’s Agyness Deyn, as well as Omayhra Mota Garcia clad in cartilage as well as nose piercings… I loved it all.

See the entire collection in the galleries.

P.S. By the way it has been duly noted that while the front row was ridiculously insane, Anna Wintour decided that a tennis match was more important…
